Future Visions Foundation

About the Founder

Alice R. Laule, M.D., obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks California in 1969. She graduated medical school with her Medical Doctorate in 1976 from the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Campus in Little Rock Arkansas. She completed her internship at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock in March, 1977, and then did four years of residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Campus. She completed her residency in March, 1981. During this time, she also taught an evening course for the Rehabilitation Program at the University of Arkansas Little Rock campus regarding aspects of visual disability. She also completed and published the results of a research project on the corneal endothelium.

She went into private practice of Ophthalmology in Harrison, Arkansas in 1981, closing that practice in 1996, when she began a holistic medical practice after years of study of that subject. Dr. Laule has board certification in Ophthalmology (November of 1981), as well as board certification in Holistic Medicine (December 2000).

Dr. Laule served as a regional Trustee for the American Holistic Medical Association from 1991 until 1996. She led a number of regional meetings for that organization, and one Regional Conference before retiring from the board.

Since 1994 up to the present time, she has been president of Future Visions Foundation, Inc, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public and other medical professionals about wellness and about integrative health care principles. Her medical practice in holistic medicine is entirely under the auspices of the Foundation. In addition to frequent public speaking for civic organizations, she is also doing some teaching for the public, and a day long fully accredited course for medical professionals, entitled "Integrating Nutritional Therapies into a Medical Practice." The plan for Future Visions Foundation includes the building of a major teaching center in Harrison, Arkansas, to move integrative medicine forward in America. She has made some connections with the Medical Center in Little Rock with the hopes of Future Visions Foundation becoming a part of their Area Health Education Center system, so that medical students who are interested in Integrative Medicine may rotate through this Center as an accredited elective.

In addition to all these activities and passions, she still works part time doing eye examinations, keeping in touch with her first specialty, ophthalmology. This allows her to donate some of her time to the Foundation, or work with very little personal reimbursement, and helps the dream move forward. There are also many nutritional and complementary approaches to eye disease, so people can still benefit from her knowledge in that field, as well as in a more general, family medicine approach through the Foundation. She can be reached for eye appointments at 870-741-1910.

Dr. Laule is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, American Holistic Medical Association, American Medical Association, and is proud to be a member of the Harrison Noon Lion's Club.
